Boulder Is Great for Fisherman

Surrounded by over 30,000 acres of open, natural space, there is a variety of great fishing spots near the community of Boulder. Whether you want to go out on your own, book a guided expedition, or take fly fishing lessons, you’ll find a number of options in the Boulder area.

Rocky Mountain Anglers in Boulder houses a retail shop and also offers guide services. They also offer fly tying demonstrations and classes as well as programs for kids. Rocky Mountain Anglers guides are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about fly fishing. The outfitter specializes in fishing the waters of nearby Colorado Rocky Mountain National Park.

Front Range Anglers is another outfitter located in downtown Boulder. They offer a retail shop as well as guide services including multi-day trips to places like the San Juan River. They also offer corporate events and team building activities.

The nearest fishing spot is Boulder Reservoir. The reservoir is 540 acres and stocked with bass, catfish, pan fish, pike, walleye, muskie and trout. Boats are allowed at Boulder Reservoir and it’s conveniently located just a few miles from downtown Boulder.

Eldorado Canyon State Park is also popular with fishermen. It offers a mile-long stretch of creek fishing for rainbow and brown trout. And Flatiron Reservoir is small at just 47 acres, but is stocked with rainbow trout and offers a peaceful day of shore fishing. Boats are not allowed at Flatiron.

Lagerman Reservoir is just a few miles away near the town of Longmont. It is a 116-acre reservoir that’s stocked with bass, catfish, pan fish, pike, walleye and muskie.

Enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature, fresh air, and the excitement of a good bite with a day on the water when you’re in Boulder. With so many rivers, streams, ponds, lakes and reservoir, it’s easy to find a secluded spot with plenty of fish, and there are a number of outfitters in the area who are eager to help you have the perfect fishing experience.
