The closest hill to Boulder is Eldora Mountain Resort, just a 25-minute drive away. Eldora has 680 acres of skiable terrain and its longest run is 3 miles. The mountain offers skiing, snowboarding, cross-country and snowshoe trails. You can also rent just about everything you might need for an enjoyable day on the slopes, from skis to snowboards to poles, boots and even clothing. Serious skiers and snowboarders can rent lockers and leave their gear at the resort for next time.

Eldora’s knowledgeable staff offers lessons for every age and ability level. Eldora also offers women-only days, kids programs, night skiing, an avalanche school program for backcountry safety, slalom and giant slalom practices sessions, and more. Season passes and discounts are also available. Eldora is happy to accommodate groups for a fun day in the sun and snow, and staff is often complimented for their hospitality.

If you like Nordic skiing, or you’ve never tried it and would like to, Eldora offers 40 kilometers of Nordic ski area. Trails meander through serene forests, across expansive alpine meadows and past dramatic mountain backdrops. The trails are designated for classic cross-country skiing, skate skiing or snowshoeing. The Eldora Nordic Center offers complete rental packages, lessons and clinics.
