CU is one of the top universities in America

The University of Colorado at Boulder is the largest university in Colorado, attracting over 45,000 graduate and undergraduate students each year. CU-Boulder is one of the most influential educational institutions in the nation.

The school’s was founded before Colorado became a state, back in 1877. It consists of nine different colleges and schools with over 150 academic programs and 3,400 different courses. CU-Boulder is proud of its six Nobel Laureates who attended the university, as well as 17 astronauts and seven MacArthur Fellows.

The largest of school at CU-Boulder is the College of Arts and Sciences. Other schools include the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Leeds School of Business. Many masters and doctoral degree programs are available, including subjects of education, music, engineering, business, architecture, journalism and law.

The University of Colorado in Boulder belongs to the prestigious Association of American Universities and is ranked 34th among all universities in the world, and 27th in the United States according to Academic Ranking of World Universities.

The CU-Boulder campus is bustling with student life with more than 300 academic, political, social, religious, and recreational clubs. Student organizations range from the Program Council, to the Black Student Alliance, to Ultimate Frisbee. The Student Recreation Center is one of the largest facilities of its type in Colorado, offering over 30 participatory club sports, ranging from rugby and figure skating to soccer and hockey. Each year over 12,000 students participate in intramural sports programs.

Colorado Buffaloes competed in nine intercollegiate sports in the NCAA Division/Big 12 Conference, and it was announced recently that they will be joining the Pacific-10 Conference. The Buffaloes have won 23 NCAA championships, including 17 in skiing and one in football. Approximately 1,500 students participate in 34 intercollegiate club sports annually.

The University of Colorado-Boulder is Boulder’s largest employer, providing careers for more than 7,000 residents.
