The Magic of Local Table Tours

Food is a big deal here in Boulder. Bon Appetit dubbed Boulder “America’s Foodiest Small Town” in 2010. I didn’t know foodiest was a word, but it’s definitely a lifestyle.

Enter Megan Bucholz, owner at Local Table Tours in Boulder. She’s a foodie who’s keenly aware that people are wired with a desire for meaningful experiences. So, she’s created a niche for those who don’t just want to anonymously eat, pay, and leave a restaurant without connecting with the chefs, the owners, the sommeliers, the culture, and the food for which they just paid a pretty penny.

And connection is what makes Bucholz and Local Table Tours so successful. She actually knows and has a relationship with the people who create all the fantastic food you’ll experience on your tour. Bucholz partners with a host of Boulder’s top restaurants to create small, personalized, and constantly unique tours ranging from Downtown Dining, Cocktails, Coffee and Pastry, Farmers Market, and Private Dining Experience themes.

Bucholz’ clients tell lots of stories about how Local Table Tours leaves them with a satisfied palate, but even more importantly, how the tours give them a lasting memory they want to replicate.

One fellow surprised his speechless wife with a birthday party tour in her honor. Couples come for creative dates, to celebrate anniversaries, and to spend special times with their families and out-of-town guests.  A business consultant says these tours are the place to take colleagues and clients, and the perfect event for creating a team-building environment.

You might think tourists would flock to Local Table Tours, and they do, but droves of Boulder locals who aren’t strangers to the local food and beverage scene have also discovered a Boulder they never met before.

The idea is to walk a short distance between and into these amazing restaurants in off-hours and go behind-the-scenes to get the inside scoop; then you’re lavished with special treatment and amazing food, while dishing with creative, world-class chefs and mixologists.

Bucholz’ clients consider the experience of a Local Table Tour an educational and cultural exploration with a personal touch, and because of her concept's popularity and buzz, she's expanded her Local Table Tours to Denver.
